Because our vehicles are constantly moving between destinations, the most efficient transfer for you is not always the same as a standard fixed-route price.
That is why we use a Request a Quote approach rather than relying entirely on an instant online booking engine.
Your journey may fit into an existing route
Our vehicles rarely follow exactly the same schedule every day.
One vehicle might take guests from Rovaniemi to Levi in the morning. Later that day, it may be travelling back towards Rovaniemi with another group.
If your journey fits naturally into one of these existing routes, we may be able to use the vehicle much more efficiently.
For example, if we already have a vehicle returning from Levi to Rovaniemi, your transfer in the opposite direction or along a suitable part of the route may be more efficiently priced than a completely separate journey.
This is one of the main reasons we encourage travellers to request a quote rather than simply relying on a standard online price.
Why can an existing route mean a lower price?
A private transfer involves more than the time spent with a passenger in the vehicle.
When a vehicle has to travel empty between destinations, that journey still requires:

* Winter driving time
* Additional mileage
If we can use an existing journey instead, we can sometimes reduce the amount of empty driving required.

Why can a city pickup sometimes be more efficient than an airport pickup?
Airport transfers have an element of uncertainty that other pickups do not.
Flights can arrive early or late. Passengers need time to collect luggage, leave the terminal and meet their driver. For this reason, airport transfers require us to allow additional time around the scheduled arrival.
Our Rovaniemi Airport transfers include a 60-minute waiting window from the time your flight lands. After the included waiting time, an additional waiting fee of €60 per hour applies.
When we pick you up directly from your hotel, apartment, Santa Claus Village or another agreed location, the situation is different.
We know when you are ready.
Our driver can arrive at the agreed time without having to reserve additional waiting time for a flight or baggage collection.
Visiting Santa Claus Village before continuing your journey?
For many visitors to Lapland, Santa Claus Village is an essential part of their trip.
If you are arriving at Rovaniemi Airport and want to visit Santa Claus Village before continuing to another destination, there is no need to return to the airport or travel back into Rovaniemi city centre first.
Santa Claus Village and Rovaniemi city centre are both a short drive from the airport. For a simple airport-to-Rovaniemi or airport-to-Santa Claus Village journey, you may find it convenient to use a local taxi.
After your visit, Lapland-Rides can pick you up directly from Santa Claus Village at a time that suits your plans.
From there, you can continue door-to-door to destinations such as:

Why we don't rely entirely on instant online booking

Every day, our vehicles are in different locations, serving different groups and travelling different routes across Lapland. The best option for your journey can therefore depend on what our fleet is already doing on that particular day.
